Meet our staff
Our Director, Azra Govani
Azra specializes in math and science, having earned her degree in biology as well as a master’s in teaching. She is a Washington State Certified teacher, who worked in the Mukilteo School District for eight years. Azra is also a Parent Educator for “Developing Capable Young People.” She does private consultations as well as group workshops. She is a volunteer teacher trainer for the Aga Khan Foundation. Her love of teaching and working directly with students led her to open the tutoring center. It is Azra’s philosophy of student-centered education that is one of the pillars of Academic Success. She also likes to spend time at home with her family, and she enjoys gardening.
Zul Govani
Zul’s specialty is math and computer science, and he has ten years experience tutoring. His sense of humor helps to lighten the atmosphere while the students learn. Zul enjoys hiking, and is involved in such community service activities as the Boy Scouts of America.
Michael Michalak
Michael has a bachelor of science degree in mathematics, and he is a Washington State Certified teacher. He has a great deal of experience teaching students with diverse backgrounds and ages. Michael has also participated as a volunteer for the Math Club at a high school in Montana, school homework sessions, GRE preparation, and for the Casa de Elizabeth Orphanage benefit concert. He enjoys baseball and he is a Mariners fan.
Robert Yates
Robert is a University of Washington graduate with a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish. He also completed the prerequisites to apply to medical school, and has participated in chemistry research. Robert has worked as a volunteer in such places as Children’s Hospital and Kaiser Permanente. He was selected to represent his university at the NCAA Leadership Conference in 2006. Robert continues to be interested in athletic activities.
Teresa Franson
Teresa has a master of arts degree in Communication Development and taught English Composition at Colorado State University for two years, where she also studied teaching techniques. She home schooled her son for twelve years, designing all of the course work. She has volunteered as a teacher of English as an acquired language, as a companion in a nursing home, and as a counselor for young women. She enjoys music and yoga.
